The exorbitant cost of Housing is one of the biggest problems in New York City. This supremely liberal city, like San Francisco, is a complete fraud: It pretends to care about working people, but so many people of modest means are awash in vermin in filthy, miniscule, walk-up apartments.
Scott Stringer is, by far, the most progressive candidate in the New York City mayoral race insofar as housing is concerned. While so many Clintonite Democrats in New York have winked at measures which erode tenant protections and feed the inflationary fuel that makes rents soar, Stringer has been a fierce and adamant advocate on behalf of tenants.
Of course, the counterfeit progressives who run this city know exactly how to deal with progressive men. They scream that he is a womanizer, that he had an affair, that he looked at a woman the wrong way.
The scandal de jour in New York City is the charge that Scott Stringer messed around with a woman. When did he mess around? In the 1990’s. (These feminists believe that they are above the Law and not subject to the Statute of Limitations. These laws are meant to prevent Plaintiffs from harassing defendants years after the evidence and witnesses, who could exculpate Defendants, are gone. In New York, in personal injury cases, the statute of limitations is 3 years, and if a doctor mistakenly leaves a foreign object in his patient’s body, it is 1 year – but the women demand an infinite amount of time to conjure complaints premised on sex.) But back to the nuts and bolts of the case against Stringer: What were the terms of his relationship with this woman ? They worked together in politics. Did any money pass between them ? Yes, the woman made repeated contributions to his campaigns. We have heard of men paying women for sex, but in this case a woman, apparently, gave a man money because she liked his politics.
The marked defects in her case have not stopped a parade of dyspeptic, annoying politicos in New York from denouncing Stringer. After all, the women’s movement screams, “We believe the women” and is loath to analyze the evidence. Their method of adjudication is divorced from trying to find the truth. Rather, every Defendant is guilty as soon as he is accused. It is on a par with the trial of Dreyfus, who was accused of treason because he was Jewish, and the Scottsboro boys, who were accused of rape because they were black.
These social warrior prosecutions and scandals are infinitely illiberal, anti-democratic, and sport the flavor of Roy Cohen transmogrified into a valiant, vehement princess.
We have seen this movie before. Indeed, this movie never stops running in the rotten apple. Not too long ago, Elliot Spitzer, one of the most brilliant (He scored 800 on both the math and verbal sections of the SATs) and progressive men to become New York’s governor was promptly booted out of office because of –you guessed it: being a naughty boy as he played around with prostitutes. Recently, they also crucified New York’s attorney general, Eric Schneiderman, because of alleged sexual improprieties. But, after all, Elliot Spitzer, Eric Schneiderman and Scott Stringer were white, Jewish and male, and that means they were privileged princes, and we all know that privileged princes deserve to be unjustly accused, prosecuted and convicted.
The New York Mayoral race will probably be won by a man like Shawn Donovan. He has drowned New York in an avalanche of ads (And Beware candidates who can spend a fortune on their campaigns: Most of them have the dough because they have sold their soul to special interests, which in New York means real estate interests) which all essentially say just one thing: He is Obama’s boy. Given the electoral demographics in New York, these ads can carry him across the finish line. Hundreds of thousands of fat black momma’s, nodding off from diabetes or pre diabetes, will be unable to scrutinize the facts, will continue to be oblivious to the manifold wrongs that Obama inflicted on poor people and black people, and will put another pest in political office. (I am sorry if I seem racist. I am merely reporting what I see. And, quite frankly, there is more obesity and diabetes in the black community, and diabetes can induce lethargy and impair cognition.)
New York is so proud of being a very progressive and blue city. It is as blue as Leona Helmsley’s sapphires radiating scorn and sarcasm with sadistic glee.
Hello Houston (or below Houston Street), we have a problem : white progressivism is not what it says it is. I thank David G. for yet another tough column calling things out. I disagree with him on every other line, I don't know why he has to go out of his way to insult black people in every column (as if there weren't immensely obese white people scattered all over the landscape outside his frigging oh so precious Manhattan) but the politics of personal destruction as practiced by "liberal progressives" must be seen for what it is. I hasten to add that I am far from America, where sex has become an everyday weapon, yet another tool in Getting Ahead. Good luck to y'all !
