The Media Unfairly Castigates Biden for Pardoning his Son While It Ignored Trump’s Campaign to Tarnish Hunter at the Expense of National Security

In New York, there is a “cause of action” (A ground for suit) known as “malicious prosecution.” (Outisde of New York, it might be known by other names.)

Mr. A will have a case for malicious prosecution against B if B relates lies about A to law enforcement and A consequently spends time in jail. Trump disseminated lies about Hunter Biden, but he did not put Biden in jail; he did something worse: He hurt American foreign policy because in Trump’s view hurting the Biden family was more important than helping America.

Have our news media, our pompous, ponderous, pussyfooting pundits, forgotten something. Don’t they remember the tape of that phone call held between Trump and Ukrainian officials, that damning tape that made it clear that Trump’s desire to hurt Biden was so intense that he was threatening to abandon our allies if they did not spread dirt about Hunter Biden.

I don’t remember exactly when the tape was released. It was a tape in which Ukrainian officials are asking Trump for American aid. Trump’s position: I won’t give Ukraine aid unless the government of Ukraine disseminates news stories and damning information to the effect that Hunter Biden was engaged in corrupt or illegal activities.

Of course, it does not matter what those activities or allegations of corruption consisted of. The substance of things never matters. The appearance is all that counts. Just holler corruption, and the American media will be agog with histrionic hot heads screaming that the Bidens, like the Clintons, are intrinsically, immutably “bad bad bad,” and nary a soul in the media will have the mental energy to dissect the allegations and expunge the fiction from the facts.

And the most important facts are always enshrouded by matters that are comparatively trivial or ephemeral. While the Trump camp has screamed about Hunter Biden’s alleged corruption in Ukraine -- without telling us who he wronged, what he stole, what lies he told etc. -- they have overlooked Ukraine’s significance in Europe and international relations.

Ukraine is the focal point of America’s conflict with Russia. Biden boosted the stature of the West by aiding Ukraine and preventing Russia from “gobbling-up” Ukraine in a few days as it had consumed Czechoslovakia in a few hours in August 1968. If Ukraine falls to Russia, this may establish that Western cohesion is impossible, that wealthy western states cannot be relied upon to help their brothers on the front line. Nevertheless, to Donald Trump, dissing Hunter Biden with dirt mattered more than the consequences of ditching and destroying our foreign policy objectives.

And we have also buried the true facts behind electoral politics in this country. I realize that most people have the idea that Hillary Clinton lied when she said, at the end of 1997, that “the real story here (with respect to Monica Lewinsky) is the vast right wing conspiracy” to defame and libel her husband, but she was telling the truth: When a progressive gets into office, he is automatically torn asunder by the devilishly reactionary tendencies of the press. Shortly after Clinton became President, the media was flooded with stories to the effect that a) Hillary was a ball-busting dominatrix who, in the course of revamping health care, was going to set up death panels which would determine who shouldn’t get medical treatment because it was their time to die, b) gay men were going to invade the military and guys would become a bunch of limp-wristed fags incapable of holding a gun, and c) Hillary and Bill killed Vince Foster.

They even deposed President Clinton, on network television, to delve into his private life and determine whether or not his jism stained Monica Lewinsky’s dress. If President Clinton’s penis is a proper subject for the “media” (More properly seen as nothing but the gossipy, giddy, yentas and fishwives who have turned news coverage into something resembling the Jerry Springer show), then Donald Trump’s plans and plots to aid Russia should be scrutinized. Trump should be deposed, on network television, to answer questions about his alarming and potentially treasonous relations with Russia.

And just as they launched baseless attacks against Clinton, they were bloodhounds with respect to Obama. When Obama entered the Whitehouse, the media and Congress did everything short of appearing in blackface to mock and humiliate Obama. To a large section of the populace, the whereabouts of Obama’s birth certificate were infinitely more important than finding Osama Bin Laden (Bush never nabbed Osama bin Laden; Obama did). However, because the media is such a catastrophic mess, Americans generally believe that Republicans are a party of virile and good young men who raise the flag with strength and pride and that Democrats are a conglomeration of freaks, fags and trannies creaming at the thought of surrendering America to her most ardent and adamantine enemies.
