A Glowering Prophecy of Lenin Foretold the Odium that is Trump

The Russian Communist leader, Vladimir Lenin, wrote that capitalists would destroy themselves. Essentially, he said that capitalists are such greedy sons of bitches, always grasping for undeserved gold, that they would eventually screw themselves. More specifically, he forecast that capitalist, imperialist states would eventually fight one another for the control of world markets and their ferocious battles would finally do them in.
In the case of Trump, we see a man who is not fighting other capitalists for world markets, but we are witnessing the debilitation and demoralization of America, and its western allies, by Trump and his gang, a disloyal, treasonous cabal who care more about lining their pockets than saving Americans from the mounting death toll and escalating poverty engendered by Covid. Trump and his mafia family have continuously made decisions not because they were good for America but because they were good for their portfolios.
I don’t think most Americans recognize just how exceptionally scuzzy these warped creatures are. Tonight, I heard MSNBC state that Trump had pardoned a bunch of scoundrels including Paul Manafort. MSNBC solemnly intoned that Manafort was guilty of crimes pertaining to banking. Although MSNBC is left of center, their coverage is sometimes the sort of coverage that strengthens the right. Most people will snooze when they hear vacuous new reports that relate that Manforte did something “bad” with respect to banking. MSNBC should have reminded the listener that Manafort got millions of dollars from Russia, managed Trump’s campaign in 2016 and, most importantly, knew that his receipt of monies from Russia was illicit. This is because he assiduously concealed his acquisition of millions from Russia. Instead of Russia tendering money directly to Manafort, Russia tendered the money to Manafort’s creditors. For example, a Manhattan clothier got over a million dollars from Russia for clothes they gave Manafort, and Russia sent oodles of monies to people who sold Manafort luxurious homes.
In any event, America was always a capitalistic country, but now some people have begun calling America a hypercapitalistic country, a country consumed by a ravenous, rapacious greed which runs roughshod over morals and demonstrates that honor, love and loyalty are abstractions that exist only in greeting cards or Christmas movies such as “It’s a wonderful life.” A nation that is led by men who care only about their pocketbooks is a nation led by Quislings.
